Addendum: Occupied Wall Street

From time to time I get a comment on the site that is longer than the original piece.  See yesterday’s Occupied Wall Street, on which a man calling himself John left a seven hundred word essay a la Alex Jones.  I am not going to post the actual comment, for the time being, because it irritates the fuck out of me when people lack the common sense to send something like that in e-mail.  I am generally not one for censorship, but then I remembered: I can do whatever the fuck I please.

I wrote John a nice letter.

Dear John,

I am not going to post your comment.  You wrote a seven hundred word essay in a comment space – a comment longer than my original post and largely tangential to its content.  I am familiar with Truther conspiracy arguments.  I don’t care.  Assume that anyone who re-enters the military at this point in time has their own motives.  Specifically, assume that I am not sensitive to your arguments.

As for my service, there is no mention in my post of “defending my country” or “fighting for freedom”.  Furthermore, the idea that you can cut-and-paste talk radio rhetoric and convince me to break a sworn oath is misguided at best.

My posited argument about not having a choice was an esoteric comment on fate and destiny.  It’s a literary device.  Furthermore, I went on to suggest that Americans are no longer living or acting in the spirit of a once-great nation.  I mentioned, specifically, that Wall Street Bankers were complicit in criminal acts, and that the SEC was covering up said acts.  I finished by drawing a parallel between soldiers – men of action – who “occupy Afghanistan”, and protesters – misguided in some ways they may be, but they are taking action.  I suggested that more Americans take action in the revolutionary spirit of our great Nation, and restore it to its roots as an honest Republic that rewards hard work and decency.

“Americans occupy Afghanistan.  They occupy Wall Street.

Americans should occupy America.  Drive out the gutless cunts that seem to have taken it over.  Remind them of our First Principles.  Remind them of our hard-scrabble roots.  Remind them of how we feel about big government.  About monopolies.

Remind them that Americans will put a gun to the head of anyone with the balls to take from us.”

If that doesn’t jive with your rhetoric, or whatever need you have to be right, or hijack my website to rant when you can make your own for free, then you can find the dark part of my asshole with your tongue.

I am certain that whatever state-run facility you are in is working diligently to help you.  If you ever need anything, anything at all, please hesitate to ask.
