Cinema is the modern campfire.  Whether you view it on a glowing television, or sitting in a crowded theater, people love to sit in the dark and listen to a story.  Like the epic poem, the play, and the novel before it, good cinema examines the world – both around us and in us – and tells us something about it.  Cinema is visual literature.  Cinema is mythos.
