No one really believes in equality.  It’s supposed to be one of the founding principles of our country, but there is little to be had here.

We are taught to submit our entire lives; to our parents, our teachers, our spouses . . . to cops and judges, lawyers and doormen . . .

Submission is not an equal partnership.

And before the next thought enters your head, the one that says “Fuck that!  I hate cops, I don’t submit to anyone!” answer this question: Have you ever paid a traffic fine?  The odds are high that when a man with a tool-belt full of weapons tells you to do something, you comply.

Equality is a nice idea, but society is not built of nice ideas.  It’s built of hard compromises.  The very foundation of society – the Social Contract – is a compromise.

“I promise not to bash you over the head and take your shit if you promise not to bash me over the head and take mine . . . “

Political Science 101.

Do humans want equality?  No we don’t.  Everyone wants to run faster, jump higher and stand taller.  Everyone wants to look better, fuck better, and feel healthier.

There are pills to help you live longer and grow bigger.  There are injections to keep the pain away.  There’s a prescription for everything that’s wrong with you.

Nevermind that pain and suffering and sickness are all normative parts of the human condition.  If we had true Global equality, the standard of living would be just a bit better than an internment camp.  If it weren’t for unequal distribution of wealth, everyone would be scratching out a living from the hard, dirty Earth.

Consider this the next time you hear someone sing paens to socialism and equality.

Consider that you would have no idea just how good you really have it if some kid weren’t picking maggots out of his eyes right now.
